Your very own Style guide
Need a little styling assistance to achieve the picture perfect wardrobe...look no further! I understand that choosing an outfit can be one of the most frustrating parts of this experience - enough to turn people away from photos entirely. Let me make this part of the process just a little bit easier for you.
Confidence. Is. Key.
My number one piece of advice - is to pick a piece you feel confident in. Be a little extra, buy that fancy dress, or that particular outfit you've been wanting to treat yourself to but could never find the excuse - this is it!
Color Preferances
Avoid neon or bright colors as they tend to reflect off of skin and we don't want to be pulled in by one piece of clothing for every image - instead we are looking for a balance that pulls everyone together.
To best fit the editing style I use, I highly suggest; colors with depth, earthy tones and neutrals, deep jewel tones, boho, terracotta, or golden tones. (Burnt Orange, Burgundy, Marigold/Mustard Yellow, Emerald, Navy Blue, warm/rich Browns, Cream/Tan.)
Try not to put everyone in the same color, especially for family sessions. Instead try putting one person, usually mom's time to shine, in a patterned shirt/dress, and then pull colors from that piece for the rest of the family. Don't copy the focal point, but match it.
Make sure to take note of your session location - and coordinate to the scenery you've chosen. For example - if you choose Klondike, I would not recommend wearing white. I do have more specific recommendations for each location used, and a Color Palette Guide for each location.
Layers & Accesories
We LOVE layers. The added textures really helps bring images to life, with a beautiful pop. Sun hats, lace, fishnets, a button down paired with a solid tee, bows/headbands, cute shaped sunglasses, jewelry, all different types of jackets from cardigans to leather. The list goes on. This is also a great way to personalize your photos a bit more.
